1985 SAC-8 Football Championship Team

The 1985 Lion football team was picked to finish next-to-last in the conference’s preseason poll. That season the Lions finished with an 8-3 record, including a 6-1 finish in the SAC-8 and won the first-ever outright football conference championship in Mars Hill history.

The 1985 squad was ranked nationally for most of the season and finished 11th in the season’s final poll.

During the football contest against Wingate on November 7, 2015, the MHU Athletic Department recognized the 1985 team for their accomplishments on the 30^th year anniversary of their championship season.
