Bio

Cody Carlson was named head men's and women's golf coach in the summer of 2021.

Carlson came to Mars Hill from Cumberland University where he was the assistant coach during the spring of 2021.  With Cumberland, Carlson helped lead the men’s team to a Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship, runner-up finish in the conference championship, three individual medalists, five MSC All-Conference selections, six MSC All-Academic honorees, and qualifying for the NAIA National Championship.

On the women’s side, Carlson saw the team rank 16th in the country, one individual medalist, and four individual runners-up.  In the spring of 2020, he was the assistant coach at Lincoln Charter School.

Carlson graduated from Milligan College in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a concentration in Digital Media.  He double minored in Coaching and Journalism.  Carlson captained the men’s golf team, earning 12 top-10 finishes in 32 events and leading the team to a third-place finish in the Appalachian Athletic Conference his senior year, as well as being named an All-Conference selection.

He is currently working on his Master’s degree in Sports Management at Cumberland with an expected May 2022 graduation date.
