Jaron Hulme will enter his third season on staff with the Mars Hill Men’s Soccer program in 2025 and second season as Associate Head Coach for the Lions.

In the 2024-25 campaign, the Lions went 10-4-5 and 6-2-3 in the South Atlantic Conference which earned the Lions an at-large bid in the NCAA D2 National Championship for the first time since 2012.

The 2024-25 season was one for the history books. In the SAC the Lions earned six All-Conference Selections. Peter Plougmand earned a spot on the SAC All-Conference First Team as a forward alongside fellow Senior Sam Bayly who was named First Team All-SAC Midfielder. Ben Harvey was named Second Team All-SAC Defender. Named to All SAC Third Teams were Adrian Faus as forward, Bruno Fornes as defender, and Nolan McMillen as defender.

Adding to his many accomplishments, Plougmand was named 2024 Division II Conference Commissioners of America (D2CCA) Ron Lenz National Player of the Year. The first time in school and program history.

Plougmand was also named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Year where he finished the season on 25 Goals and 6 Assists for 56 Points. Following the regular season both, Plougmand and Braxton Robinson were named to the 2024 South Atlantic All-Conference Tournament Team as forwards.

Adding to their accomplishments, men's soccer placed two student-athletes on the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Men's All-Southeast Region Team. Plougmand was named First Team Forward and Bayly was named Second Team Midfielder. Plougmand was then also named United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team Forward.

Adding to their on field achievements Plougmand and Bayly were also named 2024 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans, for the first time in program history. Plougmand was named first team and Bayly named second team.

Adding to their on field accomplishments Plougmand, Bayly, Harvey, Fornes, and McMillen were all named CSC Academic All-District Selections.

Plougmand and McMillen were then named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America First Team selections.

Rounding off the year, Plougmand was named D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team as well as D2CCA All-Southeast Region Player of the Year Senior. Bayly was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team.

In the 2023-2024 campaign, the Lions went 5-7-6 and 2-4-5 in the SAC.

In the SAC the Lions earned two All-Conference Selections. Plougmand earned a spot on the SAC All-Conference First Team as a forward. Jorge Perez was named Second Team All-SAC Forward.

Plougmand was then named D2CAA All-Southeast Region Forward and then was also named United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Third Team Forward.

Adding to their on field accomplishments Plougmand, Perez, and McMillen were all named CSC Academic All-District Selections.

At the conclusion of the year, Plougmand was named Mars Hill University Male Student Athlete of the Year and the Lions also picked up the Community Service Award for their efforts in the community over the school year.

The Lions rounded off the year earning their fourth consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.

Hulme joined the Mars Hill University Men’s Soccer program in Fall 2023 from the former Alderson Broaddus University (NCAA D2) where he previously served from 2016-2023 as an assistant and then head coach.

He spent the 2016 and 2017 seasons as an assistant coach for the Battlers soccer programs before taking over as the women’s head coach in 2018. In 2016, the men’s soccer program captured their first GMAC tournament championship, the program’s first conference championship in nearly a decade.

Hulme graduated in May of 2014 from Alderson Broaddus University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Studies and a minor in Athletic Coaching. He graduated Magna Cum Laude. Hulme was a member of the President’s List, SAAC, and a recipient of the Silver Key Award, E.W. Billings Memorial Award, and Dr. A.R. Mansberger Award among other accolades.

A native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Hulme was a four year starter at Alderson Broaddus. He was selected twice as a defender to the All-WVIAC team (2011,2012) and served as the team captain. Hulme was also an All-WVIAC academic selection in 2011 and 2012 as well as an All-GMAC academic selection in 2013. Prior to playing at Alderson Broaddus, Hulme was an All-State performer at Robert C. Byrd High School and played club for North Central United.

Hulme moved on to attend William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa after graduating from Alderson Broaddus. He served as a graduate assistant soccer coach for the Statesmen and earned a Masters of Business Leadership Degree in 2016.

Aside from his collegiate coaching roles, Hulme has also served as a head coach for Mountain State Soccer Club (U18/U19 Boys), head coach for Empire FC (U18 Girls/U18 Boys), as well as coaching stints with West Virginia ODP.  Hulme has also been involved with various soccer camps, including Mike Noonan’s Clemson Tiger Soccer Camp, Bobby Muuss Soccer Camps (Wake Forest), High Point Soccer Camp, Surrency Soccer Camp (Georgia State), Creighton Soccer Academy at Creighton University, and Columbus Crew’s College ID Camp.

Hulme acquired a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2015.
