Men’s Swimming Defeats Catawba
SALISBURY, N.C. - Mars Hill's men's swimming team defeated Catawba College, 128-78 Saturday afternoon at the Abernethy Physical Education Center. The Lions improve to 5-0 on the season.
Hudson Tucker (Brookwood, Ala.) won three events that included the 100 backstroke, 100 fly and 400 medley relay. Sam Hartshorn (Asheville, N.C.) won two events in the 100 freestyle and the 400 medley relay. Ed Smith (Blairsville, Ga.) also won a pair of events in the 100 breastroke and the 400 medley relay. Audley Elder (Waynesville, N.C.) won the 1000 freestyle and Trey McGraw (Beckley, W. Va.) won the 200 freestyle to round out the winners for the Lions.
The men broke the 400 medley relay school record. The swimmers that broke the record included: Ed Smith, Hudson Tucker, Sam Hartshorn and Tyler Treadway (Pineville, La.).
