Bio
Dexlie Inman was named head coach of the Mars Hill softball program in the fall of 2024 and made an immediate impact in her first season at the helm.
In just one season, Inman has quickly set a new standard for the softball program — the team achieved a remarkable turnaround—posting a .500 winning percentage, earning the most conference wins the program has seen in over a decade (12) which led Inman’s team to a post season run, to compete in the SAC Conference Tournament for the first time in 12 years. Her debut season also saw individual player success, including two standout players – Brianna Weimer and Maia Sholter, earning their 100th career hit, freshmen pitcher Teá Cornett tabbed Pitcher of the Week and senior third baseman, Farley Park being named Third Team SAC All-Conference Team.
Prior to being named head coach, Inman served as the assistant coach at Mars Hill University during the 2023–2024 season. In her role, she wore multiple hats—serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator and both the offensive and defensive coach. Her recruiting efforts brought in high-caliber talent, while her defensive coaching sharpened both infield and outfield play. However, it was the offensive side of the game where her impact was most dramatic.
Under her guidance, the MHU offense saw unprecedented success, breaking multiple program records and delivering the most productive offensive season in school history. The 2023–2024 Lions posted a .305 team batting average, a .528 slugging percentage, and a .419 on-base percentage—dramatic improvements across every offensive category compared to the previous year. One standout performance came in a single record-breaking game, where the Lions shattered six program records: Most At-Bats (43), Most Runs Scored (23), Most Hits (24), Most RBI (22), Most Home Runs (7) and Most Total Bases (47).
Under Inman’s offensive leadership, Mars Hill also saw: 98 more runs scored, 67 home runs (up from 26), and 201 walks drawn (nearly double the year prior). 2023-2024 Lions (Inman): .305 batting average, 1,231 At bats, 282 Runs, 376 Hits, 67 Doubles, 67 Home runs, 261 Runs Batted In, .528 Slugging percentage, 201 Walks, .419 On Base Percentage.
Other highlights from her tenure at Mars Hill include freshman Leah Grimes earning SAC Player of the Week honors, as well as being named Third Team All-SAC conference, junior Farley Park hitting her first career cycle and recording her 100th career hit. Inman had seven players adding their names to the MHU record books for offensive achievements while her team also had eight comeback victories.

Prior to Inman’s time at MHU, she served as an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb University, a Division I program, where she helped develop players’ skills all around the diamond, organized and executed daily practice plans, as well as conducted weekly one-on-one meetings with the student-athletes to monitor their academic workload and mental health. During her time at GW, Inman primarily served as the team’s infield coach as well as assisting with the team’s offense. During those two seasons, Inman helped coach a First Team All-Conference outfielder, All-Freshmen Team infielder, and Honorable Mention outfielder as well as three Big South Players of the Week.
In 2021, Inman served as the high school varsity assistant coach at her alma mater in Union, South Carolina. In 2016, Inman entered her college career after being named South Carolina Player of the Year and earning an All-American title. Inman was a four-year starter at the College of Charleston from 2016-2020 as a middle infielder. She served as captain on the team during her final two seasons (2019-20) and was named to the CAA All-Tournament team in 2019. During that year, she led the team in doubles, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and tied for second in runs scored.
That same year, Inman left her mark in the record book with her doubles total ranked fourth highest in school history and walks total ranked fifth highest in school history. In 2017, she was named the “Charleston Way Spirit Award” winner, awarded to the athlete that upholds the cultural values of the team that included integrity, gratitude, competitive spirit, unity, and pride. She graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching.
