Volleyball Practice Report #1
Mars Hill prepares for a pair of scrimmages on Thursday and Monday
MARS HILL, N.C.- The Mars Hill volleyball team welcomed six new faces to the program during the first practice last week, joining a team that has only four upperclassmen. With youth comes exuberance, and that added energy has been evident as the team continues to gel together.
"The girls have really gotten after it at practice," head coach Tony Fontanelle said. "They're working hard and we've improved over the course of preseason. I'm excited to see how our new players blend with our returners in a game situation."
Fontanelle won't have to wait much longer to get a look at the Lions in a game as Mars Hill travels to King University tomorrow evening for a scrimmage. Mars Hill will host North Greenville in their final scrimmage on Monday night.
The Lions open the 2015 season at the Newberry Invitational on Friday, September 4 with matches against Lees-McRae at 2 p.m. and Francis Marion at 6 p.m. The tournament concludes on September 5 with Mars Hill facing off against Belmont Abbey at 9 a.m. and UNC Pembroke at 3 pm.
