Peek Named to NCCSIA All-State Team
Aleshia Peek is a second team selection to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division Softball team
HIGH POINT, N.C. - Mars Hill senior outfielder Aleshia Peek is a second team selection to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division Softball team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Peek started all 35 games and led the Lions with a .343 batting average, a .445 on-base percentage and a .556 slugging percentage as she finished with 34 hits, six, doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI. Defensively, Peek had a .981 fielding percentage and had four outfield assists while splitting time in left and center field and was an All-South Atlantic Conference second team selection. Peek had the game-winning hit during Mars Hill's 3-2 victory over Catawba on March 29.
During her three seasons at Mars Hill, Peek hit 11 home runs and is tied for ninth all-time on the career home run list. She received her Bachelor's Degree at Mars Hill's commencement ceremony on May 9.
Joining Peek on the second team are pitchers Madison Johnson (Mount Olive) and Stacey Houser (Wingate), catcher Ally Griffin (Methodist), infielders Tina White (Chowan), Sarah Connelly (Greensboro College), Sydney Landreth (Lenoir-Rhyne) and Katrina Bartlett (Winston-Salem State), outfielders Lauren McGrath (Mount Olive) and Courtney Diamond (Chowan), utility player Haleigh Epperson (UNC Pembroke) and designated player Brea Hartley (UNC Pembroke).
The first team consists of pitchers Carley Tysinger (Catawba) and Maryann Hoskins (Lenoir-Rhyne), catcher Taylor Laskey (Wingate) infielders Alexis Burrell (Wingate), Sloane McPeak (Belmont Abbey), Rachel Howard (Guilford) and Lindsey Wiggins (William Peace), outfielders Natalie Naturile (Catawba), Maggie Fritts (Salem) and Morgan Hendrix (Wingate), utility player Amanda White (Meredith College) and designated player Morgan Farmer (William Peace).
Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and selected by the NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, the NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.
