Lions take Team Championship at Stoneage Weightlifting Meet
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill weightlifting team claimed the Team Championship at the Stoneage Weightlifting Meet, held at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Samuel Wainwright, in the clean & jerk, took gold by 1kg in a close, back-and-forth battle. Kamal Rustom set a new personal record in the clean & jerk, hoisting 11kg more than his previous mark.
Priscilla Webley qualified for VIRUS Weightlifting Finals (American Open Finals) by successfully lifting her last attempt on the clean & jerk, also setting a new personal best.
Makiyah Nickerson was named best female lifter, racking up several medals and personal records.
Mars Hill came away with eight gold medals, four silver, three bronze, while setting 20 new personal bests (five in the snatch, seven in the clean & jerk, and eight overall totals.)
