Lions Picked to Finish Fourth in Conference
ROCK HILL, S.C.—Mars Hill’s women’s cross country team was picked to place fourth in the South Atlantic Conference by the league’s coaches in a poll released Thursday. Four Lions earned Preseason All-SAC honors.
ROCK HILL, S.C.—Mars Hill's women's cross country team was picked to place fourth in the South Atlantic Conference by the league's coaches in a poll released Thursday. Four Lions earned Preseason All-SAC honors.
The Lions earned 91 points in the poll, which placed them between Anderson (93) and Queens (82). Faith Trammell was named Preseason First-Team All-SAC, while Jessica Viscusi, Savannah Hulbert and Heidi Hooker earned second-team honors. Mars Hill placed fourth at last-season's SAC Championship. MHU will open the season Sep. 6 at the Eye Opener in Spartanburg, S.C. Race time is set for 6:30 p.m. Mars Hill will host the SAC Championships in Black Mountain, N.C. on Oct. 26.
Trammell finished second in last-season's SAC Championship meet to earn First-Team All-SAC honors. The junior went on the earn All-Region honors with a 17th-place finish at Regionals. Trammell won SAC Runner of the Week honors twice last season.
Viscusi narrowly missed inclusion on the All-SAC team last season with a 15th-place finish at the SAC Championships. Hulbert placed 21st overall and earned SAC All-Freshman honors with the fourth-best time by a freshman in the event. Hooker placed 22nd overall at last season's championship meet.
Mars Hill is ranked 10th in the Southeast Region in the USTFCCCA Preseason Poll.
Defending champion Lenoir-Rhyne received nine first-place votes to top the preseason poll. Wingate placed second and received two first-place votes, while fifth-place Queens received the final first-place vote.
