Randolph named SAC Offensive Player of the Week
Senior tailback moves into 10th place on SAC career rushing list
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill running back Jonas Randolph has been named the SAC Football Offensive Player of the Week for Week 1. Randolph rushed for a league-high 163 yards in Mars Hill's 27-7 victory of Charleston. Randolph also added 41 receiving yards on the day.
With the 163-yard performance on Saturday, Randolph moves into 10th place on the SAC career rushing list (3,601 yards), passing Steve Gorrie of Presbyterian who posted 3,486 from 1992-95. Rodney Wallace of Catawba is currently ninth on the SAC list and had 3,769 yards from 2001-04.
With 27 carries in the game, Randolph also set a new Mars Hill mark for most career rushing attempts. Currently at 643, he passed Jonathan Byers who totaled 617 from 1989-92.
Randolph led the SAC with 1,367 rushing yards (124.3 yards per game) in 2010.
Tusculum linebacker Brian Alexander and kicker Logan Cornelius were named the SAC Football Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 1, respectively.
Mars Hill travels to Western Carolina on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
