MARS HILL, N.C. - Mars Hill's Trent Miller has been named the D2football.com national offensive Player of the Week. He was previously named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Miller had a historic game for Mars Hill on Saturday in the Lions' 56-42 shootout victory over Wingate, throwing for 476 yards and a school-record six touchdown passes. The yardage total tied for the 13th-most from any quarterback in the nation this season, while the six scores were one shy of matching the SAC single-game record.
Miller completed 26-of-37 passes in the game while throwing just one interception and taking one sack. The redshirt freshman now has three 300-plus yard games this season, and Saturday marked the first time he's eclipsed the 400-yard mark.
Miller is tied for the SAC lead with 20 touchdowns, while his average of 258.4 yards per game ranks third.
Mars Hill will conclude their season this Saturday when they travel to Tusculum for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
