Greenway named head men's & women's golf coach

MARS HILL, N.C. – Director of Athletics Rick Baker has announced Bryan Greenway as its new head men's and women's golf coach, as released on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Baker stated, "We are extremely excited to have Coach Greenway lead our men's and women's golf programs. His extensive playing and coaching experience will benefit our programs greatly."

Greenway's playing experience in golf is vast including Jr. Golf before playing collegiately at ETSU. After playing for ETSU, he competed as an amateur before joining the PGA of America where he spent eight years as a golf pro at Glenrochie Country Cub.

"I am proud to say that I've won on every level I played," Greenway said about his playing career.

Prior to giving golf instruction to teams of golfers, he gave hundreds of golfers one-on-one instruction.  Before arriving at Mars Hill University, he spent five years coaching at the high school level; three years at Abingdon in Abingdon, Virginia and two years at John Battle, located in Bristol, Virginia.  Most recently, he served as men's and women's head golf coach at Southwest Community College (SWCC) in Cedar Bluff, Virginia for the past four seasons.

In those last two seasons, SWCC golf won the Region X title and Greenway was named Region X Coach of the Year. 

"I've always had a passion and a talent for teaching golf," Greenway added. "That, coupled with being highly competitive makes coaching at this level a perfect fit. I am delighted to be a part of the Mars Hill University Athletic program."
