MARS HILL, N.C. – Bill Kreger has been named the new Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Mars Hill University, Athletic Director David Riggins announced today.
Riggins stated, "Coach Kreger brings a wealth of tennis knowledge which he has accumulated through a lifetime dedicated to the sport. More importantly, he puts great emphasis on teaching life skills to those young people with whom he works."
Bill Kreger comes to Mars Hill with more than 20 years of experience in tennis. A California native, Bill has earned an MS Degree in Physical Education from the University of Nevada-Reno and PhD in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico. His background also includes certifications with the United States Professional Tennis Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, Pat Etcheberry's Tennis/Fitness, and NIRSA as a Recreational Sports Specialist.
Kreger stated, "I want to thank Athletic Director David Riggins for giving me the opportunity to coach tennis and work with students at Mars Hill. I hope we will have a strong team and know we will represent the university in a favorable light."
Bill has also served a number of years coaching tennis at the university level. He was the assistant men's tennis coach at the University of New Mexico for two years. During his tenure at New Mexico, the team was ranked in the top 25 in the nation and boasted two All-American players. He also served as head men's tennis coach for the Athletes in Action collegiate touring team and boy's tennis coach at Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Among his credits as a club tennis professional, Kreger formerly served as the tennis director and fitness director at private clubs in Virginia, California, and South Carolina.
He has been a life-long learner and spent significant time working with juniors of all ages and abilities. He is very dedicated to building character as it relates to the athletic journey in players.
