MEET RECAP: UNCA Bulldog Invite
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the UNCA Bulldog Invite over Friday, April 10-Saturday, April 11.
MEN'S RECAP:
Several Lions established personal bests over the weekend.
On the Track
Levi Hill and Luke New both set personal bests in the 110m Hurdles. Hill placed 2nd overall with a personal best 14.94s. New placed 9th with a personal best 16.52s.
Hunter Philyaw, Justin Kwakye, and Aiden Burton competed in the 200m. Philyaw placed 24th with a time of 22.65s. Kwakye placed 27th with a time of 22.79s. Burton placed 34th with a personal best 23.05s.
Mason Smith ran a personal best 4:35.57 in the 1500m run.
Nine Lions competed in the 5000m run.
Matthew O'Connor led the way with a 3rd place finish and personal best 15:02.46. DJ Chandler placed 6th with a personal best 15:16.4. Eli Taylor placed 9th with a personal best 15:32.36. Justin Owens placed 10th with a time of 15:38.96. Brandon McNulty placed 11th with a personal best 15:45.61. Charles Fuerneisen placed 13th with a personal best 15:47.54. Brett Cram placed 14th with a personal best 15:52.85. Grant Richardson placed 25th with a time of 17:21.2. Luke Capps placed 26th with a personal best 17:29.82.
Connor Cecil placed 12th in the 400m run with a time of 52.6s.
Kwakye placed 16th in the 400m run with a personal best 53. 88s.
In the Field
Jack Zalevskiy placed 9th in the Hammer throw with 43.54m. Zalevskiy placed 4th in Discus with a personal best 42.49m.
Preston Wright placed 14th in the Hammer throw with a personal best 39.79m. Wright placed 18th in Shot Put with a throw of 12.03m.
Hank Bowen placed 11th in Long Jump with a Collegiate Best 6.13m. New placed 14th with a jump of 6.02m
Iggy Welch placed 5th in Discus with a throw of 42.34m and 3rd in Shot Put with a throw of 14.34m.
WOMEN'S RECAP:
Several Lions established personal bests over the weekend, many top 8 finishes, and one event win.
On the Track
Six Lions competed in the 5000m run. Sophie Ratcliff led the way with a 1st place finish time of 18:08.7. Natalee Powers placed 2nd with a personal best 18:11.04. Lola Korth placed 3rd with a personal best 18:17.35. Mary Malcolm placed 10th with a personal best 18:47.12. Louise Borgudd placed 17th with a personal best 19:13.35. Alleigh Flewwellin placed 18th with a personal best 19:13.64.
Fernanda Osuna placed 20th in the 1500m run with a time of 5:56.04
Katie Harwood placed 21st in the 1500m run with a personal best 6:01.48.
Valeria Sanabria Olan placed 21st in the 400m run with a personal best 1:09.25.
Jimena Montero ran a season best 20.67s in the 100m Hurdles.
In the Field
Natalie Freise placed 3rd in Long Jump with a Personal best 5.07m.
Montero placed 11th in Long Jump with a personal best 4.59m. Montero competed in Javelin as well, placing 12th with a throw of 24.30m.
Cierra Williams competed in three events. Williams placed 5th in Hammer Throw with a personal best 42.21m. Williams placed 6th in Discus with a mark of 36.7m. Williams placed 7th in Shot Put with a throw of 10.9m.
Kayla Rice placed 7th in Hammer Throw with a throw of 40.37m. Rice competed in Shot Put as well, placing 13th with a personal best 9.68m.
Charley Seagle placed 11th in Hammer with a throw of 36.62m. Seagle competed in Javelin as well, placing 15th with a personal best 18.59m.
Faith Woodard placed 14th in Hammer with a throw of 35.26m. Woodard placed 15th in Discus with a throw of 28.16m.
Kennadi Hale placed 9th in Javelin with a throw of 26.88m.

The Lions travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Winthrop Invitational hosted by Winthrop University April 18th-19th.
