Lions open home slate versus Newberry

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-3, 0-1 SAC) was defeated 82-46 versus Newberry (1-2, 1-0 SAC) in their home opener Wednesday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
Newberry led 41-16 at the end of the first half, dominating play in the second quarter, hitting nearly 54 percent of their shots from the floor. Mars Hill opened the second half on a 6-0 run, but was quickly countered by the Wolves as they continued to extend their lead in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Wolves shot 44 percent from the floor and hit 11 three-pointers in the contest. They outrebounded the Lions 58-36.
