Lions named SAC Team of the Week
The Mars Hill women's basketball team was named the South Atlantic Conference Team of the Week, posted Thursday morning.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team was named the South Atlantic Conference Team of the Week, posted Thursday morning.
The Lions are on a three-game winning streak for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Mars Hill kicked off the streak on Wednesday, February 1, defeating UVA Wise on the road by a score of 66-57.
Returning to Chambers Gymnasium on Saturday, February 4, Mars Hill pulled off the upset, defeating then No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 64-61. On Wednesday, February 8, the Lions pulled off another stunner, defeating the SAC Mountain Division leading Carson-Newman Eagles by a score of 69-64.
The duo of Jo Snow and Janette Hanni have been instrumental in the streak. Snow has scored 51 combined points, including a 24-point effort versus the Cavaliers.
Hanni has netted 59 points over the three games including back-to-back 20+ point efforts. Her defining game came against Lenoir-Rhyne where she recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lions are in action on Saturday, February 11 when they travel to Newberry. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
