Wingate defeats Women’s Soccer, 1-0
MARS HILL, N.C. - A successful penalty kick by Wingate's Kelly Moldenhauer gave the Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0 SAC) a 1-0 victory over Mars Hill (4-2-1, 0-1 SAC) on Saturday at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
After a foul in the box, Moldenhauer converted the PK in the 53rd minute. She beat Lion goalkeeper Chelsea Parker by placing the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.
Wingate's Ashlyn Hardie posted two saves. Mars Hill's Becca Sellars, who started the game, made four saves. Parker tallied five.
The Bulldogs outshot the Lions, 17-2, and held the edge in corner kicks, 8-0.
Mars Hill hosts Lander on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
