Mars Hill claims first win of season over Piedmont at home
The Mars Hill women's swim team defeated Piedmont by a score of 154-83 Saturday afternoon for their first win of the season.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team defeated Piedmont by a score of 154-83 Saturday afternoon for their first win of the season.
Elena Massa claimed three victories for the Lions, in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.81, 100 yard freestyle in 56.92, and 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:32.22.
Ashley Hicks, Bailee Bolin, and Brianna Broussard picked up two victories apiece for the Lions.
Hicks won the 50 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle with times of 30.84 and 27.26, respectively. Bolin claimed victories in the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 37.96 and 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.76. Broussard won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:03.90 and the 50 yard butterfly in 29.48.
Zehr Gibbs-Barger took home the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:13.21 and Leah Hinsley won the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:10.07.
The quartet of Hicks, Bolin, Broussard, and Hinsley won the 200 yard medley relay while the team of Gibbs-Barger, Massa, Morgan Hall, and Onalee Durham secured 11 points in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.14.

The Lions return to the pool on Saturday, January 16 as they take on Carson-Newman on the road.
