NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team (1-6, 0-2 SAC) was defeated by Newberry (7-2, 3-0 SAC) by a score of 21-6 Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Wolves held Mars Hill scoreless through the first half, going into halftime up 10-0. They scored the first four goals of the third before Luke Moore, with 8:08 remaining in the quarter, put the Lions on the board. He was assisted by James Hartley, who, with 2:21 left in the frame, scored the Lions' second goal.
In the fourth, Jake Mannix struck twice while both Caleb Nelson and Gray Crabtree potted goals for the Lions.
Gage Vigar led all players with six points (3G, 3A) and Liam Vollans led all players with five goals.
Both Nelson and Hartley ended the day with one goal and an assist while Mannix led the team with two goals.
The Lions host Tusculum on Wednesday, March 18 inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
