Men's Soccer Practice Report 1
The Lions open preseason practice with 13 new players
MARS HILL, N.C. - For the Mars Hill men's soccer team, the first few days of preseason practice have been filled with introductions and intense workouts as the Lions welcome 13 new players to the program for the upcoming 2015 season.
"The new guys have made a good first impression", junior Amine Merdjett said following practice Thursday morning. "Everyone appears to be in good shape and making a strong effort."
Mars Hill began with a fitness test on Monday before two practices each day on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to Merdjett, the busy preseason schedule will benefit the team once the season begins.
"It's a short season with many games played close together", Merdjett said. "We have to make it happen each match and leave no regrets on the field. Last year's second place finish was good, but there's something more to achieve this season."
The Lions open the 2015 season in two weeks at UNC Pembroke with a 6 p.m. match. The home and South Atlantic Conference opener is on Wednesday, September 16 against Wingate at 7:30 p.m.
