Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to Lees-McRae

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions lost a non-conference men's soccer match against Lees-McRae by a score of 2-1 Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 2-8-1 overall while the Bobcats improved to 5-6 on the season.
Thomas Deeley scored the contest's first goal in the 26th minute off a rebound. Isiah Rowland sent in the ball that Deeley scored on. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Deeley added what would later prove to be the match winning score at the 73:10 mark scoring off his own rebound. The goal was assisted by James Morgan. Mars Hill cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 81st minute when Stain Sanner scored on a penalty kick.
Mars Hill outshot the Bobcats, 23-10. The Lions recorded seven corner kicks. LMC had none. Chris Mitchell played the entire contest in the match for MHU and made two saves. Tyler Paviet also played 90 minutes in the net for the Bobcats and made nine saves.
Mars Hill will host SAC foe Tusculum on Saturday, October 17. Match time is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
