Men's Track Looks For Team Title at SAC Championships
Lions have had numerous personal bests and set two school records last weekend
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track team heads to the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship this weekend looking to improve upon a third place finish a year ago. Mars Hill was picked to finish second in the preseason coaches' poll.
The Lions have had a strong outdoor season thus far, setting three new school records with numerous personal bests. Marcus Foster finished with a new school record time of 54.93 in the 400 meter hurdles at the Terrier Relays on April 4. Last weekend at the Catamount Classic, Jay Myers finished the 200 meter dash with a new record time of 21.58. The Lions also finished with a new school record in the 4x400 meter relay as Marlon Allen, Dontonio Garrison, Foster and Malachi Young finished in 3:20.77 while claiming first place.
Mars Hill is far from a sprinter-only team as there have been personal bests in distance events both during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
The South Atlantic Conference Championships begin on Friday on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
