Lions compete at Southside Power and Fitness Invite
The Mars Hill men’s track & field competed today in the Southside Power and Fitness Invite hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track & field competed today in the Southside Power and Fitness Invite hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.
It was a strong day of competition for the Lions with several season and personal bests.
Matthew Tingle placed first in the 1500m, running a time of 4:19.89 while Hunter Snyder placed seventh, running a time of 4:49.87.
Levi Higgins placed first in the high jump, clearing 1.98m on the day. Ky Mann also competed in high jump, placing second with a season best jump of 1.68m. Mann competed in the discus and pole vault as well, throwing a season best 21.79m and a vaulting a season best 3m.
Josh Vereen competed in the long jump for the first time in his collegiate career. He jumped a personal best 6.65m and placed third overall on the day.
Lee Prescott competed in the shot put, discus, and hammer. Lee placed fourth in discus with a throw of 38.04m. He placed seventh in shot put with a throw of 12.70m. Prescott threw a personal best 37.9m in the hammer throw, placing 10th overall in the event. Raquan Coles placed 12th in discus, throwing a personal best 30.05m.
Malik Tucker competed in his first outdoor meet of the season. Tucker competed in both javelin and the 100 meter. Malik placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 34.24m and fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.71. Jackson McClain competed in the 100, placing third on the day with a season best 11.14.
Brad Barbee placed seventh in the 800, finishing in a time of 2:19.79.
