Lions perform strong at Liberty Open
LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Mars Hill women's indoor track and field team travelled to Lynchburg, Virginia to compete in the Liberty Open hosted by Liberty University. Over 30 colleges representing all NCAA Divisions along with several unattached athletes, including former Olympians, competed in what was an exciting two-day meet.
Event Wins/Heat Wins/Top Finishers
Sophie Ratcliff followed up last weekend's record breaking 5000m run with a 13 second PR and a New School Record time of 17:44.16. Ratcliff captured the Event Win, placing first out of 36 competitors. Ratcliff ranks 5th in South Atlantic Conference Standings.
Destyni Hastings 8.66s. Heat Win. PR. 65th overall out of 79.
Ally Boerger set a new personal best in the Mile with a time of 5:56.37. Boerger ran a great race, pulling away from the rest of the field in the final lap to capture the Heat win.
Natalee Powers ran a season best in the 800m run, finishing with a time of 2:23.95. Powers won her heat, holding off the second and third place runners by just under a second. Powers ranks 15th in conference standings.
Additional Highlights and Personal Bests
Two school records. One event win. Four Heat Wins. 10 personal bests.
Haley Eddinger placed eighth in the upper section of women's Pole Vault. Eddinger vaulted 3.37m, narrowly missing a PR of 3.52m. Eddinger sits in second in South Atlantic Conference Standings.
Grace Adams set a new personal best by 18 seconds in the 5000m run, finishing with a time of 18:55.45. Adams ranks 17th in conference standings.
Hannah Frazer set a 16-second personal best in the 5000m run, finishing with a time of 19:15.18. Frazer ranks 20th in conference standings.
Sarah McNeil set a new personal best in the Mile, finishing with a time of 6:05.68.
Lindsey Jenkins ran a season best in the 800m run, finishing with a time of 2:28.94. Jenkins ranks 24th in Conference Standings.
Ally Boerger followed up her PR in the Mile with a four-second PR in the 800m run. Boerger finished in 2:42.33 .
Hannah Frazer ran a new personal best 11:07.41 in the women's 3000m run.

Next up, the Lions travel to JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete in the JDL Last Chance Meet. This will be an opportunity for any Lions looking to qualify for Indoor Conference Champs, which takes place March 1st and 2nd back at JDL.
