Mars Hill places sixth at SAC Championships
The Mars Hill women's swim team placed sixth at the conclusion of the inaugural South Atlantic Conference Championships.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's swim team placed sixth at the conclusion of the inaugural South Atlantic Conference Championships.
DAY 1
The Lions 200 yard medley relay team of Maggie Anders, Ellie McLain, Ella Abbott, and Cassidy Hull placed sixth with a time of 2:04.50.
Anders placed 17th overall in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.82. Hull finished 20th with a time of 11:29.36 while Sydney Gearhart placed 22nd with a time of 11:37.54.
In the C Final of the 200 yard IM, Maria Arrabal placed fourth with a time of 2:14.38. The time placed 20th overall.
Alba Silva finished fourth in the B Final of the 50 yard freestyle, placing 12th overall with a time of 24.46 and setting a new Mars Hill record.
The quartet of Gearhart, Anders, Hull, and Sarah Ellen Johnson placed sixth in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.31.
At the end of day one, the Lions sat in sixth with 134 points.
DAY 2
Maria Arrabal placed fifth in the B Final of the 400 yard IM, 13th overall, with a time of 4:45.37. Sarah Ellen Johnson placed third in the C Final, 19th overall, with a time of 4:47.93.
In the C Final of the 200 yard freestyle, Alba Silva and Sydney Gearhart placed first and second, 17th and 18th overall, respectively. They turned in times of 1:56.49 and 1:58.19.
The team of Arrabal, Johnson, Silva, and Leah Hinsley placed fifth in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:11.83.
At the conclusion of day two, Mars Hill remained in sixth with 220 points.
DAY 3
In the 500 yard freestyle C Final, Sydney Gearhart placed first, 17th overall, with a time of 5:17.78. Cassidy Hull and Maggie Anders finished 22nd and 23rd overall with times of 5:31.81 and 5:36.82, respectively.
Leah Hinsley placed fourth in the C Final of the 100 yard backstroke, 20th overall, with a time of 1:05.08. Ellie McLain finished 22nd overall with a time of 1:07.97.
In the 100 yard breaststroke B Final, Maria Arrabal and Alba Silva finished third and fourth, 11th and 12th overall, with times of 1:07.11 and 1:07.48.
Sarah Ellen Johnson finished seventh, 15th overall, in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:20.92. Ella Abbott placed 17th overall with a time of 3:03.18.
The team of Silva, Johnson, Arrabal, and Gearhart placed fifth in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:07.18.
At the end of day three, the Lions sat in sixth with 344 points.
DAY 4
Maria Arrabal finished eighth overall in the 200 yard breaststroke, turning in a time of 2:24.33. Sarah Ellen Johnson placed 16th overall with a time of 2:35.91.
Maggie Anders placed 11th overall in the 1,650 yard freestyle, turning in a time of 19:00.00. Cassidy Hull finished 12th with a time of 19:14.40 while Sydney Gearhart placed 13th, swimming a time of 19:20.63.
Alba Silva claimed the C Final of the 100 yard freestyle, placing 17th overall with a time of 54.19. Leah Hinsley, in the C Final of the 200 yard backstroke, finished fifth, 21st overall, with a time of 2:23.52.
Closing out the SAC Championships, the quartet of Gearhart, Arrabal, Silva, and Hinsley finished sixth in the 400 yard freestyle with a time of 3:46.39.
The Lions ended the four-day meet with 508 points.
