Appalachian Open Results
BOONE, N.C.-- Seven Mars Hill women's track and field members finished in the top ten of their events at the Appalachian Open Outdoor Track Meet at Belk Track Friday afternoon.
Kristen Trammell turned in the top performance by a Lion in winning the 5000M with a time of 19:41.25. Heidi Hooker placed second in the event with a time of 21:11.74 and Danielle Metz placed fifth with a time of 21:34.75.
Alexis Montgomery broke the school-record in the 400M Dash by three seconds, running a time of 57.25 and finishing behind two National Qualifiers.
Kelly Jones turned in a second place finish in the Triple Jump for Mars Hill with a total jump of 30 feet, 2.25 inches. Jessica McEntyre rounded out top five finishers for the Lions. McEntyre finished fifth in the 200M with a time of 27.74.
Savannah Maisel added a seventh place finish in the 400M with a time of 1:04.63.
Additionally, the 4x400M team, consisting of Montgomery, McEntyre, Jessica Viscusi and Meredith Mercer broke the nine-year old school record by three seconds with a time of 4:16.98.
Mars Hill's next meet will be at the Southeast Regional Championship in Hickory, N.C. on Apr. 20-21.
