Women's Track Has Strong Opening Day at Winthrop Invitational
Aiyanna Chin sets school record in weight throw; Alexis Montgomery qualifies for 100 meter dash finals on Saturday as three student-athletes set personal records
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's track team set one school record and three personal records on the first day of the Winthrop Invitational.
Aiyana Chin set a new school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 32.96 meters (108' 2"), breaking the previous record of 104 feet set by Dana Thompson last spring. Alexis Montgomery qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.420. The finals are scheduled to be held at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday
Savannah Hulbert set a new personal best in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing in 15.49 seconds which earned her a 12th place finish. In the 5000 meter run, Megan Smith finished with a new personal best in 19:09.11.
Mars Hill wraps up the meet beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
