Trammell Has Strong Run at SAC Championships
Faith Trammell scored a second place finish in the 10,000 meter run
HICKORY, N.C.- Senior Faith Trammell scored a second place finish in the 10,000 meter run as the Mars Hill women's track team competed on the opening day of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Women's Track & Field Championships. The Lions are in seventh place after six events.
Trammell was the runner-up in the 10,000 meter run as she finished with a new school record time of 38:33.73 to earn All-SAC recognition. Trammell's time bested the previous school record by nearly two minutes and was her personal best by more than one minute. Anje Kidd finished in eighth place in the 10,000 with a time of 43:02.62. Megan Smith scored a seventh place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:59.16. Aiyana Chin finished in eighth place in the hammer throw with a toss of 35.60 meters.
Savannah Hulbert qualified for the finals Saturday in the 100 meter hurdles as well as the 400 meter hurdles. Other student-athletes advancing that advanced through preliminary heats on Friday to Saturday finals include Jessica Viscusi (1500 meter run), Alexis Montgomery (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash) and Kendra Henry (400 meter dash).
The meet continues tomorrow on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
