MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (1-1-3) was defeated by North Greenville (3-1-0) by a score of 1-0 Tuesday evening.
A scoreless first half saw Mars Hill outshoot the Trailblazers 9-3. Despite holding the shot advantage, Mars Hill conceded the lone goal in the 63rd minute.
Off of a corner sent in from Vinicius Silva, a bouncing ball was driven in off a shot from Enrico Onzi, netting his first of the season.
The Lions, late in the contest, had several opportunities to tie the game, including a free kick that just went over the crossbar and a pair of headers that were tapped wide of the near post.
Mars Hill outshot North Greenville 21-7 (3-1 shot on target). Jens Haukeland led all players with five attempts followed by four from Oskar Wisth. Charlie Drury added three while Abiel Lopez attempted two.
The Lions close out their five-game homestand with a return to South Atlantic Conference play, hosting Anderson on Friday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
