Holmes Named AstroTurf SAC Offensive Player of the Week
Mars Hill senior wide receiver Dimitri Holmes has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill senior wide receiver Dimitri Holmes has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday. Holmes wins Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.
Holmes broke the SAC record for career receiving yards as well as Mars Hill school record for career receptions in a 27-20 loss to Shorter on Saturday. Holmes broke the school reception record on a completion to the right sideline to get the Lions inside the red zone as part of a fourth quarter drive. Two completions later, Holmes broke the SAC record for career receiving yards on a pass along the left flat. The Athens, Ga. native finished with 15 catches for 215 yards and two touchdowns, one reception away from tying his school record of 16 catches in a game. Holmes currently holds the conference record with 3,781 career receiving yards and the Mars Hill career reception record with 234 catches.
Newberry's A.J. Booker was named the AstroTurf SAC Defensive Player of the Week, with Brevard's Andre Overholt claiming AstroTurf Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Mars Hill is off this week and will open conference play next Saturday at home against Newberry at 1 p.m.
