Ashley Named AstroTurf Special Teams Player of the Week
Mars Hill redshirt junior punter Michael Ashley has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill redshirt junior punter Michael Ashley has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, league officials announced today. It is Ashley's first weekly nod of 2014.
Ashley had six punts for 234 yards in Mars Hill's 35-7 win over Catawba on Sunday. Ashley averaged 39.0 yards per punt, with his longest punt traveling 58 yards. He forced three fair catches and had one punt land inside the 20 yard line. In part due to Ashley's efforts, Catawba's average starting position was their own 31-yard line.
Mars Hill will play their final road contest of the season against Wingate on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
