Lions sweep E&H in historic weekend series
Mars Hill sets school record for most SAC wins in season with 18th.

EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill baseball team (24-21-1, 18-11-1 SAC) swept Emory & Henry (12-31, 6-24 SAC) this past weekend, totalling 38 runs over three games. Mars Hill sets new school record with 18th South Atlantic Conference win of the season.
GAME ONE: MHU 16, E&H 5 - 8 Innings
A nine-run eighth inning secured the game one victory for Mars Hill.
The Lions racked up 19 hits with the quartet of Evan Ashe, Gavyn Miller, Yeriel Pastrana, and Terick Bumgarner each recording three. Miller led all players with four RBI, highlighted by his three-run home run in the eighth.
Pastrana and Bumgarner each added three RBI apiece. Pastrana recorded two doubles in the contest.
Austin Kutz earned his second win of the season, striking out three in the win.
GAME TWO: MHU 15, E&H 2 - 7 Innings
The Lions' offense continued to roll into game two, clinching the series win with a 15-run outburst.
Yeriel Pastrana continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-3 with another three RBI to lead all players. Mel Rubiera, Chapel Matson, and Peyton Starkey each added two hits and two RBI. Ayden Hines, in his lone at-bat in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded, cleared them with a three-run double to left center.
Mars Hill held the Wasps to just four hits in the game. Collin Chappel, in the start, allowed one earned run in 3.1 innings thrown. Reid Withers was credited with his fifth win of the season, throwing 0.2 innings, striking out one.
Withers, along with Gavin Hug, Jake Richardson, Victor Nicholson, and Jackson Ray combined for 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits.
GAME THREE: MHU 7, E&H 4
Tied at four entering the fifth, the Lions reeled off three unanswered runs over the next two innings to complete the series sweep.
Both Evan Ashe and Yeriel Pastrana recorded RBI singles in the frame to put the Lions up 6-4. In the top of the sixth, a solo home run off the bat of Alejandro Aguilar clinched the game for Mars Hill.
The Lions opened the game up 3-0 after one, highlighted by Pastrana's two-run single. After a two-run home run in the second from Stuart Callahan III and a solo shot in the third from J.D. James, the Wasps tied the game at three.
The teams traded runs in the fourth as Aguilar picked up his first RBI of the game with a groundout. Callahan III hit his second home run of the game, a solo blast to left center.
Pastrana recorded his second three-hit game of the series, ending the weekend with a .727 batting average, going 8-for-11 with two doubles, a home run, and nine RBI. Aguilar added two hits and two RBI while Gavyn Miller also added two hits.
Brady Stephens earned his fourth win of the season, striking out three in 4.1 innings thrown, allowing just one run on three hits.
The Lions close out their non-conference schedule on Tuesday, April 21 when they host No. 15 Belmont Abbey. First pitch at Henderson Field is set for 2 p.m.
