Mars Hill felled on road versus Coker
Tateyoina Harris grabs game-high 14 rebounds in 65-55 loss.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (6-4, 3-3 SAC) was defeated by Coker (7-1, 5-0 SAC) by a score of 65-55 Saturday afternoon.
A low-scoring first quarter saw the Lions lead 14-9 with Aaliyah El netting half of the Lions' points. Tatum Bowen and Elyseia Brown each added three apiece.
The second quarter, the highest scoring of the night, saw Coker post 23 points, led by Dasia Ferguson's ten. El led Mars Hill with nine while Tateyoina Harris led all players with four rebounds in the frame.
A tightly contested third saw the Cobras outscore Mars Hill 14-13. Harris and Shawnteanna Tillman led their respective teams with six points apiece.
Coker pulled away late in the fourth, outscoring Mars Hill 19-11, hitting 13 free throws as Ferguson and Mariah Mitchem combined to go a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. Ferguson led all players with 10 points in the final 10 minutes of play.
El led all players with 22 points while Ferguson led the Cobras with 20 on the night. Harris collected the double-double for Mars Hill with 14 rebounds and 12 points.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, December 11 when they face Limestone on the road. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
