Lions fall to LMU on road
HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (13-7, 10-6 SAC) was defeated by Lincoln Memorial (9-10, 8-8 SAC) by a score of 92-69 Wednesday night on the road.
A strong first quarter by the Railsplitters saw them lead the Lions 21-6 after 10 minutes. They hit nearly 73 percent of their shots with four players netting four points apiece.
Tateyoina Harris led all players in the second quarter with 10 points, hitting all five shots attempted. Aaliyah El and Daisy Gale each added six apiece. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor and combined for 49 points.
Lincoln Memorial extended their lead even further in the third, outscoring Mars Hill 28-21. Alexa Smiddy led all players with 10 points. It marked the third straight quarter the Railsplitters shot over 55 percent.
The teams both netted 18 points in the final 10 minutes of play with El leading Mars Hill with five points. Keiara Anderson also led her respective team with five points.
Harris led the Lions with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. El added 15 points followed by 10 apiece from Gale and Maddie Gillie. Harris led all players with five blocks.
Mars Hill returns home on Saturday, February 1 when they host No. 8 Coker. Tipoff inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 2 p.m.
