Mars Hill defeated by Georgia College
Makayla Street sets career-high with 19 points.
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-2) was defeated by Georgia College (1-4) by a score of 67-63 Tuesday evening.
The Bobcats used a strong first quarter to hold on for their first win of the season. They outscored the Lions 20-9 in the opening 10 minutes of play.
The Lions cut into the deficit, outscoring Georgia College 16-12 in the second, entering the half down by seven. In the third quarter, Mars Hill scored a game-high 21 points, holding the Bobcats to 15 points, entering the final frame down just one point.
Georgia College bookended their scoring with 20 points in the fourth.
Elizabeth Wynn led all players with 25 points and 18 rebounds for the double-double.
For Mars Hill, Makayla Street led the team with 19 points while the duo of Adrianna Gullette and Jadein Haynes each added 10 points apiece from the bench. Haynes and Street also led the team with eight rebounds aside.
Jadyiah Peoples collected five assists while Kindan Dawson led the team with four steals.
Mars Hill returns to the floor on Saturday, November 29 when they face Johnson C. Smith. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
