Street sets career-high in Lions' win over Pioneers
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (5-19, 2-15 SAC) defeated Tusculum (2-21, 2-15 SAC) by a score of 70-67 Wednesday evening on the road.
The Lions trailed by four after the first half, 36-32. In the third, the Lions scored a game-high 24 points, with Kindan Dawson's six leading the way. Makayla Street added five followed by four apiece from Adrianna Gullette and Shyann McCummings.
Street continued her offensive performance in the fourth quarter, scoring eight of the Lions' 14 points to clinch the win on the road and split the season series with the Pioneers.
In the first quarter, Street netted 10 of the Lions' 17 points, hitting five of the six made baskets.
Following Street's career-high 26 points, the trio of Dawson, Gullette, and Felesia Ondongo added nine points apiece. Street also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for the double-double. Both Ondongo and Jadein Haynes added eight rebounds while Gullette led the team with five assists.
Defensively, the Lions forced 19 turnovers, coming away with 12 steals, four credited to Street.
The Lions return home on Saturday, February 14 when they face Lenoir-Rhyne. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
