CENTRAL, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-0) defeated Southern Wesleyan (0-4) by a score of 10-9 Wednesday evening on the road.
The Lions trailed 9-6 with under 10 minutes to play. Reese Wachter netted back-to-back man up goals just 1:09 apart to pull the game within one. She, just 30 seconds later with 6:46 remaining, assisted on Brooklyn Nemitz's game-tying goal.
Wachter completed the comeback with her third goal and fourth point of the quarter with 2:13 to play, leading the Lions to victory.
Cierra Ledeen scored twice in the opening frame while Madison Welch collected two assists. In the second, Ledeen, Wachter, and Kendall Middleton scored for Mars Hill.
The Warriors held Mars Hill scoreless in the third, with Taylor Townsend striking twice.
Wachter led all Lions with five points (4G, 1A) followed by Nemitz's four points (2G, 2A). Ledeen ended the night with three goals.
Victoria Kaercher stopped 11 shots en route to her third straight win.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 28 when they host Emmanuel. First draw inside Meares Stadium is set for 1 p.m.
