MHU defeated by Tusculum
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-5, 0-4 SAC) was defeated by Tusculum (4-4, 1-2 SAC) by a score of 13-5 Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers opened the scoring on a 3-0 run, ultimately outscoring the Lions 4-1 in the first 15 minutes. Reese Wachter scored the Lions' lone goal.
Tusculum followed up with seven goals in the second, as both Marissa Fink and Mya Halladay scored twice apiece. Cierra Ledeen netted the Lions' second goal of the contest.
In the third quarter, the teams traded two goals aside as Ledeen and Tia Chenard-McKercher struck for Mars Hill. The Lions scored the final goal of the contest with 6:13 remaining in the fourth as Wachter netted her second of the day.
Halladay led all players with three points (3G) followed by two goals apiece from Fink, Carmella Nilsson, and Laura Nance Pickens. Liberty Jones and Elisha Stack each concluded the day with a goal and an assist.
Wachter and Ledeen led the Lions with two goals apiece while Chenard-McKercher (1G) and Madison Welch (1A) ended the contest with one point.
Emily White stopped six shots in the win while Victoria Kaercher made 10 saves on the afternoon.
The Lions return to the field on Saturday, March 21 when they host Wingate. First draw is set for 12 p.m. inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
