MHU defeated by Emory & Henry on road
EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-8, 0-7 SAC) was defeated by Emory & Henry (4-8, 1-5 SAC) by a score of 10-7 Wednesday evening on the road.
The Wasps trailed 7-6 with 12:43 remaining in the contest. They reeled off four unanswered goals to come from behind and pick up the victory. Mary Martinez scored two goals in the frame while Justyce Jones collected three assists.
The teams traded goals in the first with Emory & Henry holding a 3-2 lead heading into the second. Resse Wachter and Abby Cleveland both converted free positions in the quarter.
Cleveland collected two points in the second with another free position goal and an assist on Cierra Ledeen's tally.
In a tightly contested third quarter, the teams scored just once goal aside with Ledeen and Jones being the goal scorers for their respective squads.
Jones led all players with six points (2G, 4A) while Martinez led all players with four goals.
Cleveland led the Lions with three points (2G, 1A) followed by two goals apiece from Ledeen and Brooklyn Nemitz.
Ella James stopped 11 shots in the win while Victoria Kaercher made eight saves.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 11 when they host Coker. First draw is set for 12 p.m.
