SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (3-10, 0-9 SAC) was defeated by Catawba (7-9, 3-6 SAC) by a score of 10-4 Saturday afternoon on the road.
Catawba held a 6-0 advantage after the first half of play. Mary Sorvillo and Abby Shuren each netted two goals.
Abby Cleveland, in the third, broke the shutout bid, assisted by Grace Hinkel.
The Lions, in the final 15 minutes of play, netted all three goals scored in the frame. Both Madison Welch and Brooklyn Nemitz scored on the man-advantage. With under a minute to play, Nevaeh Louden scored the final goal of the game.
Ava Stanza led all players with five points (3G, 2A). Sorvillo added three (2G, 1A) on the day.
Ava Kunza was credited with the win, stopping three shots. Victoria Kaercher made eight saves.
The Lions wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, April 22 when they host Lincoln Memorial. First draw is set for 1 p.m. inside Meares Stadium.
