Lions defeat Coker in return home
Lions advance to 7-0 at home.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (7-2, 2-2 SAC) defeated Coker (1-7, 0-4 SAC) by a score of 86-81 Saturday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The Lions trailed a majority of the first half before taking the lead with just over four minutes remaining. Mars Hill entered the half up 40-33. Keenan Wilkins' 10 points led all players, followed by nine from Alejandro Ford. The trio of Ford, Christian Foy, and Aljaz Vidmar led the Lions defensively with five rebounds apiece.
The teams combined for 94 points in the second half, with Mars Hill hitting 47 percent of their shots. Foy led the team with 12 points, going 5-of-8 from the floor while Jaheim Taylor added 11 points. Wilkins led the team with four assists while Ashton Troutman led the team with five rebounds.
Taylor led the Lions with 18 points, adding six rebounds and two steals. Foy ended the night with 16 points and a tied for a team-high seven rebounds. Ford added 15 points and seven rebounds while Wilkins concluded the night with 13 points and game-high six assists.
The Lions host Tusculum on Wednesday, December 17 in their final home game of the 2025 calendar year. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
