HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (5-3, 2-1 SAC) was defeated in straight sets by Lenoir-Rhyne (10-2, 4-0 SAC) Friday night on the road.
The Bears outhit the Lions in every set, setting the tone in the first by knocking down 10 kills and forcing 11 Lions' errors. In the second, they hit a match-high .400 with 15 kills on 30 swings with just three errors.
Despite a late push by Mars Hill in the third, Lenoir-Rhyne capped off the win by hitting .243 in the final frame, remaining unblemished in South Atlantic Conference play.
Keira Links led the Lions with six kills, hitting .250 on the night. Ioana Poenaru added five kills with the quartet of Megan Lee Prezio, Jenna Rosenbaum, Selma Vassdal, and Skylar Ogden each added three aside.
Alyssa Kornegay led the team with 11 assists while Laela Jimenez led the Lions with 10 digs. Rosenbaum led Mars Hill with three blocks.
The Lions return to Stanford Arena on Tuesday, September 30 when they host Anderson. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
