MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-6, 4-4 SAC) swept Emory & Henry (3-15, 0-9 SAC) in three sets Tuesday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The first two sets saw extra volleyball with the Lions taking down Emory & Henry by scores of 27-25 and 26-24, respectively. Through the first two frames, there were 30 tied scores between the teams. The Lions, in the second, hit a match-high 18 kills.
In the third, Mars Hill dominated play, knocking down 15 kills on 34 swings to hit a match-high .382 and complete the straight sets win.
Ioana Poenaru led the team with 10 kills followed by nine from Keira Links, who hit a match-high .467. Skylar Ogden added eight kills and a team-high four blocks.
Laela Jimenez led all players with 25 digs while Alyssa Kornegay led the team with 23 assists.
The Lions return to the court on Friday, October 17 when they face Catawba. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
