JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (7-8, 4-6 SAC) was defeated in three sets by Carson-Newman (16-3, 7-3 SAC) Tuesday night on the road.
The Eagles ran away with the first set, hitting a match-high .438 as a team with 17 kills on 32 swings, recording just three errors.
In a tighter played second set, both teams hit .163, but Carson-Newman's 15 kills led them to a 2-0 advantage entering the third. The third saw the Eagles hit .289 to close out the match for their 16th win of the campaign.
Ioana Poenaru led the Lions with eight kills while Selma Vassdal hit a team-high .286. Vassdal also led the team with four blocks.
Alyssa Kornegay collected 16 assists while Laela Jimenez led the team with 14 digs.
Mars Hill returns home on Friday, October 24 when they host No. 20 Wingate. First serve inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
