Lions win SAC opener versus LMU
Mars Hill opens SAC slate with four-set win over Railsplitters.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (4-2, 1-0 SAC) defeated Lincoln Memorial (6-6, 2-1 SAC) in four sets Friday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
Mars Hill dominated the opening set, taking it 25-13, hitting a match-high .351. They recorded 15 kills with just two errors on 37 attempts.
The Railsplitters battled back in the second, hitting a team-high .300 to even the match at one set apiece.
The third and fourth sets saw Mars Hill return to form, taking them 25-20 and 25-21, respectfully.
The duo of Ioana Poenaru and Angel Jimenez led all Lions with 11 kills apiece. Poenaru added 16 digs for the double-double. Keira Links added 10 kills on 29 attempts, hitting .276 in the match.
Laela Jimenez led the Lions with 25 digs and three aces while Alyssa Kornegay led the team with 24 assists.
Mars Hill returns to the court on Tuesday, September 23 when they host UVA Wise. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
