Mars Hill sweeps season set with Emory & Henry
EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (8-11 5-9 SAC) swept Emory & Henry (3-20, 0-14 SAC) Friday night, completing the season sweep.
The Lions dominated the first frame, hitting a match-high .333 with 13 kills and just one error on 36 swings. They matched their offensive output in the second, and defensively, held the Wasps to a .000 hitting percentage.
In a lengthy third set, Mars Hill emerged victorious, slamming down 21 kills, and hitting .255 to come away with the road win.
The duo of Ioana Poenaru and Skylar Ogden led the team with 11 kills apiece while Angel Jimenez added nine. Poenaru collected the double-double with 10 digs. Brooke Hoffman led all players with a .571 hitting percentage, dropping eight kills on 14 swings with no errors.
Alyssa Kornegay also recorded a double-double with a match-high 25 assists and 11 digs. Laela Jimenez paced all players with 19 digs.
Mars Hill returns home on Tuesday, November 4, kicking off a three-game homestand. First serve against Newberry inside Chambers Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
