Crusaders snap Lions five-game winninmg streak
BELMONT, N.C. - Mars Hill's five game winning streak was snapped with a 9-2 loss at Belmont Abbey College Tuesday afternoon at Abbey Yard. MHC fell to an even 5-5 on the season while the Crusaders improved to 8-3 on the season.
Michael Bueker led the Lions at the plate going 3-5 with a run scored. Adam Lewis, Rusty Smith and Christian Diaz had two hits each in the loss. Both of Diaz' hits were doubles. Jon Bullington took the loss (1-2) for MHC on the mound.
Bueker scored on a wild pitch in the first inning to give MHC a 1-0 advantage. The Lions then went ahead 2-0 in the third frame after Lewis scored on a fielder's choice. That would be all the offense Mars Hill would muster. BAC scored a single run in the third before plating four runs in the fourth inning on four hits. The Crusaders then scored single runs in the next four consecutive innings to make the final tally, 9-2.
The Lions will host SAC rival Tusculum College tomorrow in a
non-conference game. First pitch at Henderson Field is slated for
2 p.m.
