Baseball Defeats Young Harris, 4-3
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' baseball team ended the 2011 campaign on a good note defeating Young Harris College 4-3 Monday afternoon at Henderson Field. Mars Hill improved to 23-26 on the season while YHC fell to 26-21 on the year.
Tyler Reboulet led MHC at the plate going 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Christian Diaz went 2-4 with a double. Coty Pate and Dalton Hardee also recorded two hits each in the win. Nick Merchant picked up the win throwing 3.1 innings in relief. Tony Hearrell recorded his seventh save of the year pitching the final 1.2 innings.
Evan Carr led YHC at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored. David Atwood and Zach Bricknell tallied two hits apiece in the contest. Taylor Topping took the loss (2-4) on the mound for YHC.
After a scoreless first inning, Reboulet singled up the middle to score Pate and give MHC a 1-0 advantage. YHC tied the game in the top of the third when Tommy Ferguson hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Mike Medori. MHC took a 3-1 in the bottom half of the third on one hit and two YHC errors.
YHC tied the game in the fourth frame after Carr singled through the right side to plate Atwood and then Bricknell tripled to drive in Carr. Bueker drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning by hitting a double to right-center field. Reboulet scored on the hit. He reached base earlier in the inning by hitting a single up the middle.
